I am a huge, mahoosive fan of Yves Saint Laurent lipsticks, always have been - always will be, it's the only brand that can make me pay over 30Euros on a lipstick, and that is the naked truth. I always find that the ideal 'treat' for me is a YSL lippie, especially Rouge Volupte's.
This Spring, YSL are in with a colour boom, a glossy stain to be more precise, very poshly named 'Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres'. Oui-oui, and there's an entire collection of shades available to purchase on the 15th February (nationwide), should you have 33Euros to spare for a wee treat.
Will you look at these shades????

Last Friday I received a press sample via post ('hooray' and 'yipeeee' altogether + a cheeky happy dance), and
No. 17 Encre Rose was my 'destined' shade:
It is only obvious that the packaging is gorgeous, how else would a YSL product present itself? The applicator has a flat shape for precision, and is slanted for extra control on product distribution.
'Encre Rose' is this gorgeous bubblegum pink, with a very clear blue undertone, it's the perfect "pick-me-up & wear me with a neutral eye look" kind of shade :).
One word for this formula: INNOVATIVE
When applied, the glossy stain feels and looks like a gloss - rather wet at first, but creamy and thick enough not to feel oily and yucky. It quickly settles into a bit sticky but manageable consistency. Man, it's hard to explain!
All in all, I love how this settles on the lips, feels very moisturising and creamy. Unlike Benefit's 'Posietint' for example, which sinks right into your lips after application, the Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain is a stain with a creamy-glossy top coat/film on the surface.
The glossy/mirror-shiny effect lasts a good few hours, and it doesn't really matter if you eat or drink, this baby has a great lasting ability.
So, how does it fade?
Just like this!
The stain remains for an entire day (not kidding), therefore it's the ideal product for both lipgloss and lip stain fans. I did not find this product to be at all drying, and my lips are very dry per general. It is no more drying than you regular (not matte) lipstick in my opinion.
Conclusion: It's a hell of an investment if you ask me and 33Euros to me personally, is a great price for a YSL lippie. I defo recommend you at least giving these a swatch the next time you're around a YSL counter, I sure will be checking out Rose Tempera and Rouge Philtre, you just try and stop me!
Do these appeal to you, formula wise?
Yours, ArtDonatella
